Cintas aéreas y bodyloops

Aerial straps are two lengths of webbing hung from a single rigging point, worked from the shoulders and arms rather than the hands. Bodyloops are the closed version: instead of threading and wrapping an open-ended strap, you step or reach straight into a loop. Same webbing, same covering, same rating — the difference is how you get in and how many wrap variations you have once you are there.

What to look for when buying aerial straps

  • Width and thickness. Published widths across the category run roughly 38–55 mm. Narrower spreads pressure over less skin; wider is bulkier to wrap. Ours are 40 mm wide and 4 mm thick.
  • Covering. Velvet, cotton and bare webbing all feel different against the skin during wraps and rolls. What matters as much as the material is where the seams sit: seams on the inside are what cause strap bites.
  • Load rating, and on what basis. Check whether a published figure is per strap or for the pair. It is the single most common source of miscalculation in this category. Ours is SWL 80 kg per strap, MBS 800 kg per strap, at a 10:1 safety factor.
  • Length. Set by your rigging height and the drops you want. There is no industry formula for straps the way there is for silks, so measure your floor-to-rigging-point height and talk it through before ordering.
  • What comes with them. Straps alone are not a rig. You also need rated connectors and, above them, a rigging plate and swivels.
